I took my 3 year old to the Growing Green Thumbs session as part of the Kingston Libraries school holiday program. Jade and Amy were amazing! The session was so educational but fun and interactive at the same time. It’s rare to find an activity so engaging with kids of all ages which also teaches valuable environmental lessons. My son is now asking for a worm farm for his birthday! Couldn’t recommend highly enough. Avril. M
The Growing Greenthumbs program is the very best way to plant the seed of sustainability with the generation that will need it the most. Stimulating the minds and hands of very young children to empower them to grow the difference in their own backyards is the best way to instil a sense of optimism for the future as well as giving them a blueprint for a healthy mind and body.
Amy and Jade have been visiting our kindergarten groups on a regular basis this year and I cannot praise them highly enough for what they do. Their program incorporates wellbeing, knowledge, warmth and authenticity. Our 3 to 5 year olds have been enriched with the knowledge of composts, gardening, insects, bugs, worm farming and nature walks. Above all however, our children are developing their own passion to care for their world in the present and in the future
YOU HAVE INSPIRED ME TO APPLY FOR MY “WORKING WITH CHILDREN” CARD… RECENTLY THE CHILDREN OF A COUPLE OF LOCAL SCHOOLS HAVE VISITED OUR COMMUNITY GARDEN ON GUIDED TOURS AND AS A NEARLY 70 YEAR OLD I HOPE TO CARRY MY GARDENING EXPERIENCES TO HELP THESE SCHOOLS ESTABLISH THEIR NEW KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAMMES…..THANK YOU!
