Last week we were honored to attend a pink ribbon brunch hosted by Sonya Kilkenny MP for breast cancer awareness month. We joined together as leaders of our community to raise Breast Cancer awareness. The brunch gave us insights into awareness as women shared their stories and thoughts about the dis-ease that affects more than just those who suffer from it. It was a heart felt morning as we all bonded and pledged to share the awareness to others.
Unintentionally, we have been able to provide the BPS garden space as a form of therapeutic gardening to two amazing ladies who underwent treatment. As cancer treatments may cause fatigue, dizziness, loss of strength and stamina, reduced mobility, and a sense of loss of control the garden provides a therapeutic place for these women. Simple tasks in the garden can offer a means of improving physical, emotional, social, and psychological well-being.
It was and still is an honor to share this space.
Breast Cancer kills 700 Victorian women each year. Early detection is the best prevention and the best way to save lives. Please spread the word. Sonya asked us to do one simple thing, tell 5 women to check their breasts, so here we are passing on this important message.
Now it’s your turn to tell 5 women to do the same. Together, we can save lives.
